Come to Phu Yen, do not forget to explore Ong Cop bridge
About 800 m long and 1.5 m wide this is the longest wooden bridge in Vietnam that visitors to Phu Yen cannot miss.
Vietnam has many wooden bridges across the river but the most famous is the Ong Ong Tiger Bridge (also known as Ong Cop Bridge, Binh Thanh Bridge) across the Phu Ngan River, connecting the northern villages of An Ninh Tay commune, Tuy district. An with Xuan Dai ward, Song Cau town (Phu Yen).
From Highway 1A, visitors turn to the sea for more than 100 m to meet Ong Cop Bridge.
From a distance, the bridge looks small in the immense water. Every day, several hundred visitors come here.
Mr. Tiger wood bridge was put into use in early 1999, until now it has been managed by many households.
Planks made of casuarina, eucalyptus trunks; The bridge is made of old bamboo.
The bridge is only designed for use by motorcycles and pedestrians.
At the foot of the bridge are piles of casuarina wood available, when any broken board is repaired immediately.
Possessing a rustic beauty, this wooden bridge is not only a road for locals to travel,
but also the destination for the young, the paparazzi.
Ong Cop Bridge is also a shortcut to the famous landscapes in Phu Yen
Nhu Ghenh Da Dia (about 8 km away), Mang Lang stone church (120 years old)
Or O Loan lagoon (national landscape of Vietnam).
On the bridge of Xuan Dai ward, there is a hut managed by a household to collect tolls across the bridge.
Each visitor is about 1,000 – 5,000 VND, depending on the number of people and goods.
“There is a connecting bridge that is much more convenient than taking a detour or ferry so I’m willing to pay the fee.
In the rainy season, the bridge is unusable, and people go very far
So everyone just hopes the bridge will not be swept away by the flood, ”said a resident of Phu Yen.
Photographer Cao Ky Nhan, native of the “yellow flowers on the green grass”, said in the flood season
(October – November each year), at the top of An Ninh Tay wooden bridge, people dismantled a beat so the bridge does not wash away.
However, during the flash flood, the bridge was swept out to sea, requiring complete investment.
When the water recedes, the funding for the ticket collection is used to repair or rebuild.
Wandering on this wooden bridge, visitors can see images of people rowing a net, children bathing in the river or struggling women cycling across the bridge.
Visitors choose the time of sunrise or sunset to take pictures like that.
For photographers, the angle of view from above is more impressive with the image of the bridge stretching far away.
